The Pokémon Company Wins $15,000,000 Copyright Lawsuit versus China-based developers
The Pokémon Company has won a significant legal battle against Pocket Monster Reissue, a mobile game accused of infringing on its intellectual property. The game, also known as Koudaiyaoguai Fuke, reportedly included iconic characters like Ash Ketchum and Pikachu.
The Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court ruled in favor of The Pokémon Company, ordering one of six accused companies to pay $15 million in damages. While three of the remaining companies were found liable, they have since filed an appeal. This victory reinforces The Pokémon Company’s firm stance against copyright violations, even in the realm of fan-made projects.
